Orange County is a bigger place than she realized, Nardeen Saad, a third-grader at Schroeder Elementary School in Huntington Beach, said she found out Thursday – and she learned it in a much bigger classroom than usual.
“I learned there’s not just one city … but a lot of cities in Orange County, and that we are in a big drought,” Saad said.
Excited third-graders from across Orange County descended on Angel Stadium on Thursday morning to receive a history lesson.
The Gift of History program, now in its fourth year, is designed to inspire the students to want to learn about the county’s rich past.
The program is a partnership between the Orange County Education Foundation, The Literacy Project and several sponsors.
