Parking will be free at the new Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, commonly known as ARTIC, at least this year.
According to the OC Register:
Crews were spotted last week testing the parking control arms that could eventually serve as a barrier leading into the lots at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, or ARTIC, which opened earlier this month near Angel Stadium and Honda Center.
Parking at ARTIC will be free during the first year of operations, but Anaheim’s Public Works Department is studying potential parking rates beyond that time, said city spokeswoman Ruth Ruiz.
The parking stations were installed by Clark Construction as part of the city’s $127 million contract to build ARTIC, and may be used to set aside parking spaces for commuters during sporting events or concerts held at nearby Angel Stadium and Honda Center, Ruiz said.
It was unclear how the city would distinguish vehicles used by commuters using ARTIC and those who might use the parking lot for other venues.
“Our primary consideration is for patrons, and every attempt is being made to accommodate their experience at ARTIC,” Ruiz said.

I’m sure dozens of people are celebrating.
I disagree, Ryan. It could be an excellent place for the homeless to leave their shopping carts while sleeping in the station overnight. That would bump the number of people celebrating up into the hundreds. And meanwhile, of course: RVs!
So we were counting on giant otherwise-illegal billboards to backfill the funding gap but the public made it clear that even revenue generating blight is still blight. No dollars. Naming rights sponsors were going to pile on the bucks for the opportunity to put their name up on the big glass armadillo. No dollars. Now we won’t even bring in parking fees. So someone tell me how we are paying the multi-milliion dollar maintenance costs on this beast? And then tell me again why taxpayers should EVER again believe another study or claim of future revenues from this bunch? When a product I have purchased fails to deliver as promised I can generally get a refund. Where is the customer service counter for Public Works?
lmfao!
In the world of Cynthia and Greg, we should have an Anaheim of the 80’s with cheap motels, dirty streets and a business model built on prayers that people think Disneyland is important enough to visit that they are willing to ignore the surrounding squalor.
Anaheim Jack, How does ARTIC address squalor? how much squalor could have been handled with $200MM blown on the ARTIC train station? And when are you going to put your name on posts like the rest of us?
I don’t mind paying for the privilege of parking overnight so I can easily commute. I just hope they make the cost reasonable for those of us who are already paying hundreds of dollars a month for the train and that they arrange to let us pay monthly on line. Beautiful station. Hope it’s successful.
