From BetterSolutions4Anaheim.com:

Supervisor Todd Spitzer’s office has announced it has scheduled a second community forum on the proposed 200-bed homeless shelter at 1000 Kraemer Place in Anaheim, on the border between Anaheim and Orange.  After holding one community forum in June, two subsequent community forums were canceled.

According to Supervisor Spitzer’s announcement, the forum will be on Wednesday, September 30 at Eastside Christian Church, 3330 East Miraloma Avenue in Anaheim. The forum starts at 5:30 p.m. and a panel will present the Operations Plan and what nearby residents and businesses are most keenly interested in: the Public Safety Plan.

“After a panel presentation, the public will be invited to submit comments and ask questions,” says the statement from Spitzer’s office. “Submit comments” is deliberately chosen wording and sounds an awful lot like we’ll get to give our opinions in writing rather than the opportunity to stand in front of a microphone and speak our minds — which is what residents and business owners would like the opportunity to do.

A major complaint about the first community forum was the tightly-controlled, primarily one-way  flow of communication from decision-makers to the public, and gave residents the feeling they were being sold rather than consulted.

Hopefully, this forum will be open to allowing citizens to freely express themselves to the elected officials and public servants.
