The California Republican Assembly is sponsoring a forum this evening for candidates running in the 68th Assembly District; it will be held in the Orange City Council chambers (300 E. Chapman Avenue) beginning at 7:00 p.m.

All four announced candidates will be there: former Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu; Irvine Mayor Steven Choi, OUSD Trustee Alexia Deligianni; and former Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly.

AD68 is an Orange-centric, safe Republican seat that encompasses Anaheim Hills:

Following is a more detailed breakdown (the voter registration numbers are from last year).

The partisan breakdown:

43.2% Republican

28.4% Democrat

23.9% No Party Preference

Here is a breakdown of the district population by city:

Orange:            26.16%

Lake Forest:   17.12%

Anaheim:         16.46%

Irvine:                16.29%

Tustin:              13.13%

Unincorp.:        9.03%

Villa Park:         1.8%

After the forum, I recommend strolling down to historic Watson’s, just a block west on Chapman Avenue, on the traffic circle. Watson’s is the oldest continuously operating business in Orange (and I think, in Orange County), and is undergoing re-modeling by the new owners. You can look in the open doors as workmen put the finishing touches in place before the grand opening at the end of the month. It is beautiful.
