As part of the city’s Summer Nights Under the Stars series, tonight the Anaheim Ballet will be showcasing its summer school dance celebration with a free performance of “Chopiniana” at the Pearson Park Amphitheatre.

Anaheim Ballet students – who come from around the world, the nation and Orange County – will also perform short works in hip hop, modern, character, tap dancing and more.

“Chopiniana” is also known as “Les Sylphides” – a short, non-narrative ballet described as the first ballet to be simply about mood and dance. It is set to the piano music by the great Frederic Chopin and was choreographed by Russian ballet icon Alexander Glazunov.

The performance is tonight, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Pearson Park Amphitheatre, 401 N. Lemon Street in Anaheim. Admission is free.

Audience members are encouraged to bring an original short poem to submit prior to the performance, which may be chosen to be read aloud as part of Anaheim Ballet’s “Putting Poetry Back Into Life!” campaign.
